Aamchi Mumbai

"arre bhai waha nahi, waha nahi...right mein gaadi mar!" My heart skipped a beat when the driver maneuvered the car within a quarter of an inch of the other cars(not exaggerating!) Throughout this ordeal my dad was standing beside me cool as ice. He smiled looking at my dumbstruck expression and all he said was "dont worry, that guy knows what hes doing". Well,he better I thought.
And within a span of about 2 minutes the parking guy flawlessly got the car out of the tight parking spot near churchgate station. I would've definitely hit every car parked within a 5 meter radius if I had attempted that feat.Or maybe I would have just sat around waiting for the other cars to move till the evening. "See,i told you...its just looks chaotic but its actually perfectly organized" dad said. I had to agree. There was perfect order even in apparent chaos.

As a kid, I was always overwhelmed by the noise and the activity at a railway station. It looked like the epitome of confusion and I always wondered how the people running around could figure out where to run! :P But now I know better. The trick to traveling unscathed in a local train lies in being at the right place at the right time. For example maneuver your way through the crowd and get close to the door when your station is about to arrive. If you cant manage that then you wont be able to get off.(Been there, done that)Simple as that. Coming back to the point, there is perfect order present here as well albeit in a different sense.
I can go on and on on this topic(but I wont ofcourse :P) Although I must admit, this facet of Mumbai never ceases to amaze me. Theres chaos, confusion and perfect organization all bundled up into one. Thats the beauty and the very spirit of this lively city we call home. Thats aamchi Mumbai :)
